What is 18/8 stainless steel?
Steel, by definition, is an iron-based alloy. 18/8 stainless steel is 18% chromium, 8% nickel and the remainder iron. The chromium and nickel allow the alloy to be corrosion resistant. 18/8 stainless steel is considered "food-grade" stainless steel because chemicals cannot migrate into food. There are many other grades of stainless steel used in the production of water bottles from 18/0 to 18/8, but Mizu uses only the highest quality 18/8 food grade stainless steel in all products.
Why does Mizu use 18/8 stainless steel?
18/8 stainless steel is the best option for food and beverage and the #1 choice for a water bottle because:
• Corrosion resistant
• Self-repairing when scratched
• Long-lasting
• 100% recyclable
• The average stainless steel object is made of 60% recycled steel
• Easy to clean
• Non-leaching
• Composed of naturally occurring elements
• No flavor retention
What’s up with bottles made out of aluminum?
Aluminum is an amazing material for many applications but has no place in the food and beverage industry. All aluminum containers, from reusable water bottles to beer cans, are spray coated with a thin film to stop the transfer of deadly toxins from the material to the food or beverage. Many of these coatings contain other harmful toxins such as BPA. The commercial food industry has had it right for many years – stainless steel is the only metal alloy that should be in contact with our food and beverages.
Does Mizu have a Lifetime Warranty?
Yes! Our Limited Lifetime Warranty covers all manufacturer's defects for as long as you own your Mizu bottle. Scratches and dents from dropping or normal use do not affect the use or safety of the bottle, but do not qualify for warranty. Paint and graphics are under a one-year warranty and will last longer if you hand-wash your container. **NOTE- our warranty only applies to bottles purchased from an Authorized Mizu Dealer or our website.

• Do not put hot liquids in single-walled Mizu containers
• Do not freeze your Mizu containers
• Do not put your Mizu containers in the microwave
• Do not run over your Mizu container with a steamroller
• Any of these improper uses will void the Lifetime Warranty
• Warranty claims are solved with replacement or online store credit only
How should I clean my Mizu container?
All Mizu containers are dishwasher safe (top rack only), but we suggest using soapy water and a bottlebrush to extend the life of your container’s paint/ graphic. Do not scour the surface of your Mizu container with steel wool or other abrasive products; it will scratch the stainless steel.
Does using a stainless steel bottle make me a hippy?
No! Some of the coolest non-hippies on the planet from top professional surfers, snowboarders and skateboarders to the biggest rock stars and celebrities have all turned the corner. But just like what clothes you choose to wear, the brand of water bottle you carry DOES make a difference! And 9 out of 10 people surveyed agreed that Mizu is 100% COOL!
